CALD and FNF staff participate in teambuilding activity

In the spirit of partnership between the two organizations, the CALD Secretariat joined members of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty (Philippine office) for a teambuilding and planning activity. This was held on 24 to 26 January 2011 at the BellaRocca Resort in Marinduque province. Prior to this, a similar activity was held in June 2009 in preparation for the 2010 Philippine elections.

Mr. Jules Maaten, Country Director of FNF Philippines, opened the activity on a positive note. The work of both organizations has been affirmed by the Liberal Party being in government, President Aquino’s recognition of FNF and CALD and the good networks that the organizations work with. These factors have been critical in the decision of Liberal International to hold its 57th Congress in Manila this June.

The teambuilding activity called upon members to discuss ideas on how to become more result-oriented and not activity-oriented, develop benchmarks to quantify results and increase media visibility. It also aimed to identify the team’s strengths and weaknesses, the obstacles it faces and the type of environment that it best thrives in. Activities centered on capitalizing on the strengths of each member of the team and clarifying each individual’s role in the organization.

The CALD Secretariat is optimistic that this activity will contribute greatly to the success of its programs this year. “Becoming a vital channel for cooperation to our member organizations and networks begins with a reliable and efficient team within,” says Paolo Zamora, CALD Senior Program Officer. “This activity has helped us become stronger as a secretariat and has shown us that we have the potential and capability to become an even more effective organization in the region.”
