CALD appoints 2 new Program Officers

(July 1, 2004/ Manila)  CALD Executive Director, John Joseph S. Coronel, announces the appointment of Mr. Brian Gonzales and Ms. Andrea Yang as new CALD Program Officers.

Mr. Gonzales was previously Southeast Asia Policy Officer of WWF, the World Wide Fund for Nature – Southeast Asia Policy Programme, a sub-regional cooperation among WWF offices in Indochina (covering Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam), Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand, together with WWF-International and WWF donor organizations hosted by WWF-Philippines. Prior to his stint at WWF, he was engaged by the Asian Development Bank as Consultant Operations Manager for a Technical Assistance (TA) project and Ayala Corporation as Human Resources Assistant, tasked in the recruitment and training coordination of the business conglomerate. He graduated from De La Salle University – College of Saint Benilde in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in Consular and Diplomatic Affairs and earned graduate units for a Masters degree in Development Policy at De La Salle University Manila. In 2003 he received a Dipl�me de qualit� EUROregions from the University of Europ�ene d’�t� de l’Institut du F�d�ralisme of the University of Fribourg in Switzerland.

Andrea Yang was born in Taiwan in 1979. She later immigrated to Melbourne, Australia with her family in 1995. As a student, Andrea was constantly involved with the student activity in Canberra, and is now also a member of the Australian Association of Sociologists. Andrea was awarded the Bachelor Degree of Arts by the Australian National University in 2004, and she majored in sociology and political science. During her Christmas holidays in Taiwan, Andrea undertook her internship with the Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan (DPP), and was rotated to the Department of Youth Development and the Department of the International Affairs respectively. Andrea was appointed to the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD) in Manila by the DPP straight after her graduation.
