(December 10, 2007/ Taipei, Taiwan) Cambodian opposition leader, Hon. Sam Rainsy, MP and CALD chair, Hon. Franklin Drilon, formally launched today the book“Tracking Aid: Public Accountability in Official Development Assistance”.
The book was based on the CALD Conference hosted by the Sam Rainsy Party held in Siem Reap, Cambodia on April 26-29, 2006 where CALD parliamentarians and party leaders identified and assessed the best practices and approaches to accountability in official development assistance.
During the launch, Hon. Sam Rainsy, MP, provided a summary of the essential lessons learned from the said conference. According to him “the launch of this book is a very good initiative following our work in Cambodia last year about transparency in utilization of international assistance. I hope that this book will be widely disseminated to all countries, the recipient countries as well as the donor countries because international assistance is supposed to help the poor in recipient countries and it is supposed to use tax payers money from donor countries in an effective way.” Hon. Franklin Drilon said in his published message that “this book is the contribution of CALD, its member parties, and its partners to the promotion of transparency, accountability, and right to information, all of which are indispensable not just in the development of a nation but also in a functioning democracy.”
