CALD Programme Officer attends the International Conference on Federalism 2005 in Brussels

(March 3, 2005/ Brussels, Belgium)  Mr. Brian Gozales, CALD Program Officer, attends today the three-day Third International Conference on Federalism in Brussels, Belgium. The conference, attended by more than seven hundred international delegates, is a joint initiative of federal and federated authorities (Communities and Regions) of Belgium. The Conference follows those of Mont Tremblant, Canada (1999) and St. Gallen, Switzerland (2002).The Conference is timed to coincide with a series of events aiming to celebrate the 175th anniversary of Belgium’s independence, and the 25th anniversary of federalism in the country. The conference was opened by Hon. Annemie Neyt-Uyttebroeck, MEP, President of the Conference. Ms. Neyts is coincidentally President of the Liberal International and regular speaker in CALD conferences.

One of the speakers is Hon. Florencio Abad, Philippine Secretary (Minister) of Education and former CALD Chair.
