CALD Resolution No. 2 S. 2003
Resolution urging authorities of Burma firstly, to restore Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s freedom of movement; secondly, to give full cooperation to United Nations Special Envoy Ambassador Razali Ismail in fulfilling his mandate; and thirdly, to release all political prisoners and to take other positive steps towards substantive dialogues among all parties concerned
Deploring the recent attack on Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s car, preventing the completion of her journey to upper Burma;
Supporting the international community’s call for the restoration of her freedom of movement;
Reaffirming the need for substantive dialogues among all parties concerned to bring about peace and other conditions necessary for a transition to democracy in Burma;
Condemning the detention of all political prisoners and the military offensive against ethnic minority communities which result in widespread abuses of human rights;
The Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats hereby urge the authorities of Burma: firstly, to restore Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s freedom of movement; secondly, to give full cooperation to United Nations Special Envoy Ambassador Razali Ismail in fulfilling his mandate; and thirdly, to release all political prisoners and to take other positive steps towards substantive dialogues among all parties concerned.
