CALD moves to transform transport in first hybrid Smart Mobility event

 

On 20-21 April, after two years of holding purely online events due to the pandemic, the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD), with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF), organized its first hybrid workshop in Tagaytay City, Philippines. With the theme, “Smart Mobility in Asia: Identifying Transformative Opportunities and Challenges,” CALD convened virtually and in-person the representatives of CALD member-parties as well as mobility experts from private institutions, the academe, and government to discuss smart mobility developments and issues in the region…

Building Smarter and Better, local governments boost CALD Smart Mobility Network

 

With the theme “Smart Mobility in Asia: Emerging Trends, Opportunities and Challenges,” CALD convened transportation experts as well as CALD-member and local government representatives to discuss smart mobility updates in the region, share best practices in terms of local government plans and actions, and finalize the smart mobility baseline study that will serve as a reference guide for the local governments and smart mobility advocates.

Local government leaders in Asia commit to ‘Mobility For All’

 

“We therefore declare urban mobility as an essential public good.” This was the call of local government leaders and party members of the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD) from six countries expressed as they signed the Mobility For All Manifesto. Delegates to the CALD Smart Mobility Workshop, which was held in Jakarta, Indonesia on 13-16 July, with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) for Freedom, agreed to the advancement of their constituent’s welfare and development by affirming mobility for all and striving to build cities where people can live safely, healthily, and happily.

Advancing Panglao’s Tourism thru the CALD Smart Mobility Project
 

“Panglao is endowed with stunning beaches, an incredible marine bio-diversity, exquisite corals and sea life, and a hard-to-discover school of tropical fish…Because of this, tourism serves as the foundation of our vibrant and progressive local economy and is indeed its main economic driver,” said Vice Mayor Noel Hormachuelos of the Municipality of Panglao in Bohol, Philippines during the opening of the CALD Local Government Workshop on Smart Mobility. Panglao was the first stop for the CALD Smart Mobility Project’s aim to extend technical assistance in developing smart mobility plans to local governments.

San Mateo mobilizes communities and sectors towards sustainable and inclusive transportation
 

On 23-24 November 2023, the Municipality of San Mateo, led by Mayor Bartolome “Omie” N. Rivera, Jr., organized a workshop with the theme “Transforming Smart Mobility Ideas into Local Government Solutions” that is aimed towards assessing the transportation needs of San Mateo and transforming them into concrete transportation action plans. The event, with the support of Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) for Freedom, is in partnership with the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD), and in cooperation with AltMobility PH, a civil society organization of transport practitioners and professionals from various industries that advocate for safe, inclusive, and efficient transportation in the Philippines.

Trenggalek strengthens communities, advances mobility initiatives
 

On June 6-10 2024, CALD organized a local government workshop in Trenggalek, Indonesia, focusing on the theme “Transforming Smart Mobility Ideas into Local Government Solutions.” The event, hosted by Trenggalek Mayor Mochamad Nur “Avin” Arifin with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) for Freedom, was the third installment in CALD’s Smart Mobility workshops for local governments.
