(April 18, 2006/ Manila) Mr. John Joseph S. Coronel, CALD Executive Director, announced that the 2005 Annual Report of the Council of Asian Liberals & Democrats will be initially distributed during the CALD Conference on “Public Accountability in Official Development Assistance” in Siem Reap Cambodia on April 26 at the Sokha Hotel.
The annual report consists of messages by the outgoing and incoming CALD Chairmen (Taiwanese President Chen Shui-bian and Philippine Senate President Dr. Neric Acosta; the vision of Liberal Party for CALD as new Chair Party; CALD resolutions; media and communication tools; the handover ceremonies; the participation of CALD in various international events in Taiwan, Bulgaria, Italy, Chile, Thailand and the Philippines; and the CALD internship program in the European Parliament.
The main body of the report are the CALD projects for the year: CALD Executive Visit to Taipei (March 18 to 19); CALD at IPU/ Sam Rainsy Party Mission to Manila/ National Council of the Union of Burma Mission to Manila (Manila/March 31 to April 8); CALD Executive Visit to Bangkok (June 16 to 17); 3rd CALD Communications Workshop (September 17 to 21/ Kuala Lumpur); Liberal International Women’s Workshop and 2005 CALD General Assembly (October 12 to 15/ Taipei); CALD Mission to the 2005 Taiwan’s Local Elections (December/ Taipei) and Sam Rainsy Party Meeting in Manila.
Also featured are speeches from Taiwanese Vice President Annette Lu, Philippine Senate President Franklin Drilon and Philippine Senator Rodolfo Biazon.
