CALD’s Taiwanese Program Officer finishes term

(July 1, 2005/Manila) The liberal family in Manila, consisting of select officers and staff of the Council of Asian Liberals & Democrats (CALD), Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF), Young Liberals & Democrats of Asia (YLDA), Liberal Party and Young Liberals of the Philippines (KALIPI) attended the farewell party for Ms. Andrea Yang, outgoing CALD Program Officer.The dinner reception, hosted by Dr. Ronald Meinardus, FNF Resident Representative for Manila, was graced by the presence of Hon.Grace Padaca, the celebrated Governor of the Province of Isabela and Education Underscretary Chito Gascon.

A few days earlier, a small private dinner was hosted by CALD ExecutiveDirector, John Coronel, in Pagsanjan, Laguna after the secretariats ofCALD and YLDA attended the Liberal Party’s midyear planning assessment.

Ms. Yang is the CALD secretariat’s firstexpatriate staff member since Manila became the site of the permanentsecretariat in January, 2000.  Her one-yeartenure was made possible through a grant given by the Democratic Progressive Party which is currently the chairparty of CALD. Ms. Yang will work for DPP’s International Affairs Department in Taipei
