(September 22, 2006) The Manila Office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation will have a new resident representative by the end of the month.

Mr. Siegfried Herzog, head of FNF’s Asia desk in the foundation’s headquarters in Potsdam, will replace Dr. Ronald Meinardus as resident representative of FNF Manila. Dr. Meinardus is the incoming Regional Director for Mediterranean Countries based in Cairo, Egypt.

The CALD Secretariat hosted today a small gathering at the joint secretariats of FNF-CALD-YLDA consisting of the secretariats of FNF Manila, CALD and Young Liberals & Democrats of Asia to bid farewell to Dr. Meinardus and welcome Mr. Herzog.

Mr. John Coronel, CALD Executive Director, thanked Dr. Meinardus for his support to CALD during the last four years citing the latter’s contributions in strengthening relations between the two foundations and helping in the training and professionalization of CALD and member parties. He also welcomed Mr. Herzog, and his Filipina wife, Tess Castillo Herzog.

On Tuesday, there will be a book launching of Liberal Times in Manila, a collection of articles by Dr. Meinardus at the Yuchengco Center in Makati City. This will be followed by the formal turnover ceremonies of the incoming and outgoing FNF Manila resident representatives.
