New DPP Int’l Affairs Director visits CALD Secretariat

August 13, 2007/ Manila) Dr. Lai I-Chung, the newly appointed Director of the Department of International Affairs of the Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan visited the CALD Secretariat last Friday.

Dr. Lai-I-Chung conferred with Mr. John Joseph Coronel, CALD Executive Director and CALD Program Officers Paolo Zamora and Carlo Religioso. Dr. Lai was accompanied by Mr. James Chi-ping Chang, Director of the Political Affairs Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Manila.

Messrs. Lai and Coronel discussed the continuing cooperation between DPP and CALD. As a founding member of CALD and a two-term chair party (Taiwanese President Chen Shui-bian is the immediate past CALD Chairman), the DPP Director and the members of the CALD Secretariat agreed to strengthen further communication between the two offices.

Dr. Lai also had a meeting with Mr. Siegfried Herzog, Manila Resident Representative of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
