Thai Democrats and FNF toast outgoing Executive Director

(September 18, 2007/ Bangkok) The Democrat Party of Thailand and the Regional Office for East and Southeast Asia of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) hosted last night a dinner reception in honor of Mr. John Joseph S. Coronel, outgoing CALD Executive Director at Paisano Restaurant in the Thai capital.

The event was attended by senior DP officials, FNF officials and staff and other guests.

Among those is attendance were Prince Sukhumbhand Paribatra, former CALD Chairman and Thai Deputy Foreign Minister; Hon. Alongkorn Ponlaboot, DP Deputy Leader and Hon. Ong Art Klampaiboon, DP Spokesperson who both served as CALD Secretaries General. DP Deputy Spokesperson and former MP, Dr. Buranaj Smuthraks,  former Thai Ambassador to the United States and the United Nations, H.E. Kasit Piromya; former parliamentarian Isra Sunthornvut; Ms. Sirinun Senakant; and, Mr. Somphon Potisophon.

Also in attendance were Mr. Hubertus von Welck, FNF Regional Director for East and South East Asia Office; CALD Secretary General, Dr. Nereus Acosta;  Mr. Siegfried Herzog, Resident Representative of the FNF Philippine Office.  Dr. Busarin Dusadeeisariyawong, FNF Malaysia Project Officer; Mr. Khim Sophanna, FNF Cambodia Project Officer; Mr. Bjorn Wirembeck; and Ms. Krittiya Sintupongphan, FNF Regional Program Assistant were also present.

Other guests included Dr. Boonmark Sirinaovakul of Rangsit University, Dr. Carina Chotirawe of Chulalongkorn University, CALD Program Officer Carlo, Mr. Religioso accompanied by his wife;  and former CALD Program Officer and now IUCN Project Officer Brian Gonzales.

From the Bangkok-based National Council of the Union of Burma, Messrs. Nyo Oh Myint and David Taw attended.
