  • CALD Executive Meeting and Visit to Bangkok
    16-17 June 2005 | Bangkok, Thailand
    Delegates from CALD member and observer parties met for a presentation of various political parties and for an audience with Democrat Party Thailand (DP) and Bangkok Metropolitan Authority (BMA) leaders. This was hosted by DP with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF).
  • 3rd CALD Communications Workshop
    17-21 September 2005 | Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
    Communications and media specialist from CALD member and observer parties gathered for this workshop focusing on political parties and the internet. This was hosted by the Malaysian People’s Movement Party (PGRM).
  • LI Women’s Conference and CALD General Assembly
    12-15 October 2005 | Taipei, Taiwan
    Attended by mostly women parliamentarians, party officials and staff and focusing on the theme “Advancing Women in Politics: The Role of Political Parties”, the event consisted of the Liberal International Women’s Workshop for CALD members and observers, the CALD Executive Committee Meeting, the expanded women’s conference coinciding with the CALD General Assembly and the Handover Ceremonies of the CALD Chairmanship from DPP to LP followed by a dinner reception hosted by the Taiwanese President. This was jointly sponsored by the DPP, FNF, CALD and LI.
  • “CALD in the Asia/Europe Strategic Partnership: The Future is Now”
    1-3 December 2005 | Rome, Italy
    CALD actively participated in this international dialogues between Asian and European Democrats focusing on “A New Europe/Asia Strategic Partnership: Challenges and Opportunities”. The three-day event was sponsored by the Italian La Margherita Party Democrazia E Liberta and the European Democratic Party.
