CALD congratulates ALDE’s Watson on his reelection

(December 4, 2006) The Council of Asian Liberals & Democrats (CALD) today extended to Hon. Graham Watson, Member of the European Parliament, its sincere congratulations on his re-election as Leader of the Alliance of Liberals & Democrats for Europe (ALDE).

In a letter signed by the CALD Chairman and Liberal Party of the Philippines President, Senator Franklin Drilon, CALD expressed confidence in Mr. Watson;s “leadership and vision (which) has certainly made ALDE a significant force in the European Union.”

Under Mr. Watson’s leadership, effective networks and strong bonds of friendship have been established between ALDE and liberal organizations including Liberal International and CALD.

Senator Drilon wished Mr. Watson success in his vision in making ALDE an even stronger and relevant Third Force in the European Parliament especially with the historic enlargement of the EU.

ALDE and CALD have had two joint meetings in Manila, 2006 and Brussels, 2004.
