CALD ends 4th Communication Workshop

(September 9, 2006/ Taipei, Taiwan) The 4thCommunication Workshop of the Council of Asian Liberals & Democrats ends today at the Caesar Park Hotel in the Taiwanese capital.

Twenty participants from CALD members and observers as well as from the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) in Burma, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Korea, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Thailand attended the intensive 5-day course on political communication in the digital age.

Aside from the hands on training using modern communications tools, the participants visited Radio Taiwan Inc. and the headquarters of the workshop host, the Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan.

The workshop, facilitated by the FNF-Manila Resident representative Dr. Ronald Meinardus and CALD Executive Director John Coronel, tapped the expertise of Philippine blogging specialist, Mr. Abe Olandres.

The day-today-events of the workshop are reported in CALD Cloggers (http://caldcloggers.blogspot.com), the organization’s official blog site, where the participants themselves reported on the both the official and unofficial events of the project.

A quantitative and qualitative evaluation was held. The participants gave an over-all rating of 1.6 (with 1 as the highest score and 5 as the lowest score).
