CALD-FNF sponsor roundtable on the challenges of democracy in Asia in Bangkok

(September 18, 2007/ Bangkok)  The Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD) and the Regional Office for East and Southeast Asia of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) held last night a roundtable discussion on “Changes and Challenges of Democracy in Asia” in the Thai capital.

Eminent Thai academic, Dr. Suchit Bunbongkarn, Professor Emeritus of the Social Science of Chulalongkorn University, gave the main presentation. This was followed by commentaries by Dr. Nereus Acosta, CALD Secretary General and Dr. Burnaj Smuthraks, Deputy Spoeksperson of the Democrat Party of Thailand.

The roundtable, chaired by former CALD Chair, former MP and Thai Deputy Foreign Minister, M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra, started with the welcome remarks by DP Deputy Leader and former CALD Secretary General Alongkorn Ponlaboot and Dr. Neric Acosta.
