CALD hosts luncheon for Cambodian Envoy

(February 21, 2006 / Manila) The Secretary General of CALD, Dr. Neric Acosta, MP, hosted today a lunch for H.E. Ok Socheat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the Philippines. Also present were CALD Executive Director John Coronel and CALD Program Officer Brian Gonzales.

Messrs. Acosta and Coronel discussed with the Cambodian envoy the forthcoming CALD international conference on “Public Accountability in Overseas Development Assistance” which will be held in Siem Reap from April 26 to 29, 2006, and the royal pardon of Sam Rainsy, former CALD Chairman and leader of the Cambodian opposition.

The CALD executives also informed the Cambodian Ambassador that CALD Chairman and Philippine Senate President Franklin M. Drilon had invited Cambodia Prime Minister Hun Sen to be the Keynote Speaker for the three-day conference.

Mr. Coronel will travel to Phnom Penh on February 27 to, visit the Philippine Embassy in Cambodia and meet with the leadership of the Sam Rainsy Party to discuss preparations for the Official Development Assistance Conference.
