CALD meets European Commission

(November 12, 2004/ Brussels, Belgium) Parliamentary and party representatives of the Council of Asian Liberals & Democrats (CALD) member and observer parties visit today the European Commission.

A day after the conference between CALD and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), an executive meeting organized by the International Political Dialogue of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation was held today with the European Commission.

Speaking on EU Aid Assistance to Asia was Erich Wilhelm Muller, Director, Directorate D, AID CO while focusing on European Asian Relations was Geoffrey Barrett, Directorate H-Asia, DG External Relations.

Parties represented include the Democrat Party of Thailand, the Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan, the Liberal Parties of the Philippines and Sri Lanka, Sam Rainsy Party of Cambodia, the People’s Movement Party of Malaysia, the National Council of the Union of Burma, Singapore Democratic Party, Democratic Party of Hong Kong, Indonesia’s Party of Struggle and National Awakening Party, Pakistan People’s Party, Congress Party of India and the Democrat Party of Japan.
