Jokowi Visits Jogya, Meets Sultan

Presidential candidate Joko “Jokowi” Widodo was scheduled to meet Yogyakarta Governor Sultan Hamengkubuwono X during a visit to the province on Monday, ahead of the official presidential campaign period from June 4 to July 5 set by the General Elections Commission (KPU).
Jokowi and his running mate Jusuf Kalla are supported by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), the NasDem Party, the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the Hanura Party, representing 207 seats, or 39.97 percent, in the House of Representatives.

Barisan, Mah Regain Teluk Intan after six years with 238-vote majority
June 2 2014

Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Mah Siew Keong has won the Teluk Intan by-election, defeating DAP’s Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud with a majority of 238 votes.
The Election Commission officially declared the Gerakan president the winner with 20,157 votes against Dyana’s 19,919. There were 550 spoilt votes.

DPP’s Tsai Vows to make Changes

Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) yesterday officially assumed the chair of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), vowing to succeed in November’s seven-in-one elections and change the party by promoting an internal “generational shift” and “reconnecting” it with society.
