CALD Resolution No. 8 S. 2005

A resolution acknowledging the invaluable contributions of the Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan to the growth of the Council of Asian Liberals & Democrats; citing the exemplary leadership of DPP as CALD Chair Party; and congratulating H.E President Chen Shui-bian for his inspired and dynamic leadership

Noting that the Democratic Progressive Party of (DPP), one of the founding parties of the Council of Asian Liberals & Democrats (CALD), previously served as Chair Party from 1995 to 1997 before becoming chair party for the second time from 2004 and 2005;

Aware that H.E. President Chen Shui-bian was the first incumbent president to become CALD Chairman when he assumed the leadership of CALD last March 4, 2004;

Mentioning that as chair party the DPP hosted, among other successful events during its tenure, the 2004 Liberal International Asian Conference in Kaohsiung and the 2005 Liberal International Women’s Workshop and CALD General Assembly in Taipei;

Emphasizing that DPP’s exemplary leadership resulted to the further development of CALD as an advocate for freedom and democracy in the region.

The Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats hereby acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan to the growth of the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats; cite the exemplary leadership of DPP as CALD Chair Party; and congratulate H.E President Chen Shui-bian for his inspired and dynamic leadership.
