CALD Secretariat accepts Yale Intern

(October 10, 2005/Manila) The Manila-based secretariat of the Council of Asian Liberals & Democrats starts today the two-month internship of Mr. Matt Sherwin.

Mr. Sherwin, 22, is a recent graduate of Yale University in New Haven Connecticut where he received his Bachelor of Science, Distinction in Two Majors: Ethics, Politics & Economics and Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry.

He was the Summer Intern of the New York-based Gerson Lehrman Group (financial information services), Vice President of Yale Entrepreneurial Society,  and Founding Director of Scholar Partners,  which seeks to provide university instructors with customized digital audio lectures. His non-profit activities include his stint as Treasurer of the Hillhouse Scholars Program, a Council at the St. Thomas More Catholic Chapel in Yale, Co-founder of the Niebuhr Forum on Religion and Public Life and Assistant to the Founder of the Iraqi Health Research Institute.

Mr. Sherwin will be part of the documentation team of the forthcoming Liberal International Women’s Workshop and 2005 CALD General Assembly in Taipei. He will also be involved with the preparations of next year’s Overseas Development Assistance and Public Accountability Conference (Siem Reap, April 2006).
