CALD Secretary General Meets with PDI-P Secretary General

Mr. Kiat Sittheeamorn – Deputy Leader of Thailand´s Democrat Party and newly appointed Secretary-General of the Council of Asians Liberals and Democrats (CALD) – visited Jakarta this week to meet Mr. Hasto Kristyanto, Secretary-General of PDI-P at the Headquarter of the party. CALD is a network of like-minded parties seeking to promote Democracy, Human Rights and the Rule of Law in Asia. PDI-P has been an observer party of CALD since 1996 and a full CALD member since 2008. CALD (cald.org) – a close partner of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (asia.fnst.org) – organizes workshops, conferences, election observation missions and many other activities for its member parties. Mr. Kiat and Mr. Hasto exchanged views on current political issues and discussed future CALD activities. “We have benefited from our CALD membership in the past and look forward to our continued involvement in the years to come”, said Mr. Hasto, who is planning to attend the next CALD meeting in Bangkok in February.

During his brief visit to Jakarta, Mr. Kiat also visited the office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF).
