DPP Chairman hosts reception for CALD Executive Committee

(March  18, 2005/ Taipei, Taiwan) The Hon. Su Tseng-Chang, Chairman of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan (DPP), hosted a lauriat dinner-reception in honor of the visiting members of the Executive Committee of the Council of Asian Liberals & Democrats at the Ceasar (Hilton) Hotel in Taipei.

Also attending the dinner reception were DPP Secretary-General Li Yi-yang; CALD Secretary General Bi-Khim Hsiao, MP, and Taiwanese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Maysing Yang. Also present were Dr. Neric Acosta, MP, of the Liberal Party of the Philippines; Dr. Buranaj Smuthraks, MP, of the Democrat Party of Thailand; Senator Ung Bun Ang of the Sam Rainsy Party of Cambodia; Dr. Chua Peng Song, MP, of the Malaysian People’s Movement Party (Gerakan); Dr. Rajiva Wijesinha of the Liberal Party of Sri Lanka; Dr. Chee Soon Juan of the Singapore Democratic Party; Mr. Maung Maung of the National Council of the Union of Burma; Mr. John Joseph Coronel, CALD Executive Director; Mr. Uwe Johannen, Regional Director for East and Southeast Asia of the Friedrich Nauamann Foundation; and Dr. Ronald Meinardus, Resident Representative (Manila).
