FNF Asia Desk Head visits Manila

(June 24, 2005/ Manila) Mr. Siegfried Herzog, Head of the Asia Desk of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, finished today his four-day visit to Manila.

During his visit, Mr. Herzog also met top officials of the Liberal Party including Senate Majority Floorleader Francis Pangilinan and Senator Rodolfo Biazon. The Potsdam-based foundation executive spoke on “Globalization, Europe and Liberal Politics in Germany” during a forum hosted by the FNF Alumni Group.

While in Manila, CALD Executive Director, John Coronel, hosted a luncheon meeting attended by the members of the CALD Secretariat and Dr. Ronald Meinardus, Resident Representative of FNF Manila. Political developments in various countries, which have a direct impact on CALD and CALD member parties, were discussed.

Mr. Herzog has attended major CALD activities throughout the region and in Brussels, the latest being the CALD Executive Committee Meeting last June 17 in Bangkok, Thailand.
