Malaysian is CALD’s 6th Intern to European Parliament

(April 1, 2005/ Kuala Lumpur) Ms. YEAM Hui Nih, Executive Secretary for the International and Ethnic Affairs Bureau of the Malaysian People’s Movement Party (Parti Gerakan Rakyat) has been selected as CALD’s 6th intern to the European Parliament in Brussels Belgium and Strasbourg, France.

Ms. Yeam, age 26, holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the National University of Malaysia, major is mass communication (public relations) and minor in political science. She has previously worked as a primary school teacher and with two NGO’s including SEDAR Institute, the party’s think tank.

She will depart soon as her internship period is from April 18 to May 14, 2005.

The internship program is organized by the Aliiance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE)  and the International Political Dialogue of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (IPD-FNF). It involves parliamentary work in the EP in Brussels,Belgium and Strasbourg, France and research and advocacy initiatives in select European non-government organizations.

The five previous interns of CALD are Mr. Charles Tan of the Singapore Democratic Party,  Mr. Manel Priyantha Kulatunga of the Liberal Party of Sri Lanka, Mr. So Serey Yuth of the Sam Rainsy Party of Cambodia, Ms. Amy Hsieh of the Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan, and Ms. Janice B. Janioso of the Liberal Party of the Philippines.
