Norwegian Liberal leader visits FNF-CALD Office

(April 6, 2005/ Manila) Norwegian parliamentarian, Ms. Trine Skei Grande of Liberal Party, visited today the joint offices of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and the Council of Asian Liberals & Democrats located in Makati City, Metro Manila.

Ms. Grande is the Chair of the Liberal Parliamentary Group in Norway and is the Vice Chair of the Liberal Party. A graduate of the University of Oslo and the University of Trondheim, she has worked as a journalist, educator, municipal/city councilor and Commissioner for Education and Cultural Affairs of Oslo.

During the visit, FNF Communications Officer Alexandra Cuyegkeng and Consultant Ingrid Litschel presented the foundation’s missions and objectives, projects and organizational structure. This was followed by the presentation of CALD with Mr. John Joseph S. Coronel, Executive Director. Ms. Grande then gave an overview of Norwegian politics, the liberal movement in Norway and further discussed two issues where Norway has made great advancements: environment and women. This was followed by an open forum attended by the staff of CALD, FNF and Young Liberals & Democrats of Asia.

After the meeting, Mr. Coronel hosted a lunch in her honor at the Sentro Restaurant in Greenbelt, Makati City.
