President Wahid receives Asian and European Liberal leaders

(April 12, 2007/ Jakarta) H.E. Abdurraham  Wahid, former President of the Republic of Indonesia a high-level delegation from the Alliance for Liberals & Democrats for Europe (ALDE) and the Council of Asian Liberals & Democrats (CALD) at the national headquarters of the Nation Awakening Party of Indonesia (PKB).

President Wahid, Chairman of PKB, talked about the successes and challenges of democratic consolidation in Indonesia.  After his speech, responses were given by ALDE Leader, Graham Watson, MEP and CALD’s Henedina Abad, MP.

Earlier in February, President Wahid hosted a dinner at his Jakarta home for the visiting Executive Committee meeting of CALD.

PKB has expressed its intention of joining CALD as a full member.
