It became official yesterday that the contest for the Democrat Party leader’s seat is a three-horse race, with the current holder being challenged by two colleagues. Incumbent Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, former party MP Warong Dechgitvigrom and former deputy leader Alongkorn Ponlaboot applied yesterday to take part in the contest at the party’s headquarters.

The House of Representatives last night restored Vice President Leni Robredo to the line of succession to the presidency during the transition to the envisioned federal system. Robredo’s reinclusion came in the form of an amendment presented by Majority Leader Rolando Andaya Jr. to the draft federal constitution the House is considering.

New faces to lead Gerakan. A total of 23 posts, including the three top leadership posts, will be contested at the Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Gerakan) national delegate conference this Nov 17. Its incumbent president, Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong said the three top posts were that of the president, deputy president and senior vice-president.
