The CALD Secretariat will be closed from 21 December 2015 (Monday) to 6 January 2016 (Wednesday) for the annual Christmas break.  Work resumes on 7 January 2016 (Thursday).  Happy holidays!
The Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD) hosted a series of events on the sidelines of the historic UN Climate Change Conference (COP 21) in Paris, France. Held from 30 November to 11 December 2015, COP 21 concluded with a new landmark deal which committed all 195 countries to cut greenhouse gas emissions to a level that will limit the global average temperature to a rise “well below” 2C (3.6F) compared to pre-industrial levels. CALD-IFLRY-LI COP21 Side Event

The Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD), in cooperation with the Civil Will Green Party (CWGP) of Mongolia, and with the support of Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) for Freedom, held a conference on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on 6-10 November 2015. A CALD Women’s Caucus Seminar, a CALD Executive Committee Meeting and special sessions on women and religion, death penalty, and elections in Asia took place as well.

Executive Director Lito Arlegue and Senior Program Officer Paolo Zamora represented the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD) in a series of meetings and seminar in Brussels, Belgium.

CALD, in partnership with TradeAdvisors (Abad Alcantara Acero Law) andRock Ed Philippines discussed how the world, through APEC, will look like 50 years from its inception with the event titled: “The World in 2039: APEC 50 Years Hence”. This side-event aimed to discuss how decisions made today would affect not only the integration and cooperation of economies, but also how people from various sectors interact to create integrated and sustainable economies of the future.
